Paphos
Paphos is situated on the southwest coast of Cyprus and was the capital of the island during Roman times, and dates from 1400 BC. Legend has it that the city is built on the spot where the Greek Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, was born.
Today Paphos is thriving on the strength of tourism and government investment in roads and the international airport. Paphos has become a popular seaside resort with a population of 39,500.
Paphos offers something for everyone with it's ancient history combined with designer shops and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The old town is situated a short walk inland from the coat and has many traditional Cypriot markets, shops and cafes were you can enjoy organic local produce cooked and served in authentic surroundings. The Ktima section of the city is the main residential area, while Kato Paphos is the playground of holidaymakers, built around the medieval port with its numerous five star luxury hotels, restaurants and traditional tavernas and bars. Here you can enjoy a wide variety of international cuisines including French, Italian, Chinese and Indian as well as large choice of cafes, takeaways and kiosks.
