Climate

Perfect all year round…

Cyprus benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate, with abundant sunshine all year round. Long dry summers and mild winters are separated by short autumn and spring seasons. Summer is a time of cloudless skies and gentle sea breeze creates a pleasant atmosphere in the coastal areas.

Even back in history Cyprus was named Island of the Sun. It has one of the healthiest climates in the world and infectious diseases are almost unheard of. If you are lucky enough to purchase a Cyprus property the climate will never fail to delight you as the sun shines continuously and average yearly temperatures rise to 30° C (86° F).

The summer is perfect in Cyprus as the island offers long sandy beaches and crystal clear blue waters which is ideal for bathing and perfect conditions for sailing, skiing and all water sports.
In contrast the cool, pine covered Troodos Mountains with traditional villages is a must to visit – there is a short snow season on the mountains from January to March. This is ideal for skiers of all abilities and one of the most amazing facts is that you can be skiing in the morning and an hour later relaxing in the sun on the beach!

The Cyprus winter is short and mild with T shirts and shorts still being the order of the day! There is some occasional rain however most of the days are bright and sunny. The autumn season brings the scent of ripening fruit and freshly harvested wine grapes. The temperature of the sea is still high after the summer and for some people autumn is the best season.
During spring Cyprus takes on an enchanting beauty with a blaze of vivid colours from wild flowers and blossoms. Poppies, daisies and anemones light up the fields and hill sides whilst the mountains take on the heady scent of orange blossom.

Cyprus benefits from and abundance of long sunny days all through the year with the average daytime temperature from June to September being 32 degrees. The rest of the year averages 25 degrees except for December to February where the average is around 16 degrees, although you can still expect an average of six hours sunshine per day. We recommend cool cotton clothes in the summer and you may need a jacket or sweater in the evenings during May and June, September and October.

We hope that you find this information useful, if you have any questions or would like to take advantage of a beautiful Cyprus property that we have for sale please look at our property search section or contact us.
