Cyprus Culture
Cyprus has a rich cultural heritage which is reflected in the ancient buildings, folk art traditions and customs which dates back nine thousand years. Cyprus's cultural heritage has been recognized UNESCO which has included nine of the island's Byzantine mountain churches and the entire town of Kato Paphos in its World Cultural Heritage List.
The culture of Cyprus is also reflected in the food, wherever you visit in Cyprus, you'll come across mouth watering kleftiko (oven-baked lamb) and mezes - which are dips, salads and other appetisers.
Because of the warm Mediterranean climate Cyprus is also famous for its fresh fruit such as stone fruit, grapes, bananas, prickly pear, citrus and melons. In the mountains you'll also come across traditional olive groves that are still farmed to this day.
